Polynucleotides in Wimbledon
How do they work?
Natural polynucleotides are the building blocks of DNA. When we inject more polynucleotides into aged and damaged skin cells, they help to regenerate tissue by stimulating fibroblasts – a type of cell that contributes to the formation of connective tissue. Essentially, we are healing skin from within. Are polynucleotides safe?
This is a very low risk safe treatment with minimal downtime or side effects. The polynucleotides have been used since the mid 1980’s by plastic surgeons to aid wound healing and now they are being used with great results to regenerate aging skin.
What are the clinical results?
Patients find after treatment with polynucleotides a reduction in the appearance of the following:
- Fine lines
- Acne scarring
- Dark under-eye circles (one of the best low risk options for under eye issues)
- Skin laxity
- Poor tone and texture
They can be used all over the body including the face, neck, décolletage, inner arms and thighs, knees and rejuvenate the scalp and improve hair growth.
What does treatment involve?
Treatment involves 3 sets of injections 2 to 3 weeks apart. The skin cells are stimulated, and the effects are seen from a few weeks after treatment. There is continued improvement for up to 3 months, with results lasting 6 to 9 months. To maintain the effects, it is recommended you have a top up treatment every 4 to 6 months.
Patients treated with polynucleotides have improved skin condition and often find that their treatments with Botox and hyaluronic acid fillers last longer. Polynucleotide treatment is ideal for patients wanting to prevent skin aging with very natural results.
An excellent option for the under-eye area which is often challenging to treat.
I think going forward treatment with polynucleotides will become as standard and as bigger part of the anti-aging maintenance regime as Botox is already.
